MARK THE OCCASION: How to Elope, Fabulously

Had to push your wedding back due to the current events ? I get it - and I’m here to help.  Although you may not be able to host your big wedding right now, why put off getting hitched?  You can totally elope in style and have the incredible party of your dreams when it’s safe to do so.

KME’s CHECKLIST FOR ELOPING

Each state has its own marriage license laws, so you’ll want to find out what yours are. Generally, if your elopement will involve a license, there are a few things you need to know:

  1. What is the wait time between getting your license and the wedding?

  2. Do you need an appointment at city hall?

  3. What are the witness requirements, and who can serve as your witness?

THINGS TO CONSIDER:

  • Rings - If you want them, make sure to have them on time (& to bring them)!

  • Vows - It's not necessary to write your own, but it's totally your choice. Decide ahead of time what your plan is. Civil ceremonies are usually pretty short, but if you want to make it more personal, it's a great way to do that.

  • Photography - Mark the moment!  I would definitely hire a photographer to really capture the memory with high quality, beautiful photos.

  • Florals - This can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be.  Have a beautiful bouquet made by your favorite florist, or grab some local flowers and tie with a ribbon yourself.

  • Attire - This is truly an anything-goes situation.  You can keep it simple and chic, or go for a full wedding look - don’t let eloping stop you from wearing what you want.

  • Hair and Makeup - Same goes for this: just because you are eloping, doesn't mean you can't go full glam.  Do whatever feels the most YOU.

  • Celebration - Plan a mini get-together afterwards with your closest friends and family to include them in the moment.

  • Announcements - Post it up on IG or send printed announcements letting people know about your new status.
